Grenade threat

IMPHAL, Oct 7 : Md Kadir who is preparing to contest the upcoming 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly election was threatened by some unidentified persons with a hand grenade which was lobbed at his Yairipok Kekru Makha   Leikai residence at about 9.45 pm yesterday.

However, as the grenade failed to go off, there was no casualty. The grenade was retrieved by Yairipok Police  following which a case was registered.

Village chief alleges NREGS fund misuse by BDO

IMPHAL, Oct 7: Nehkhojang Haokip, who claimed to be chief of Khul-len Khailet village under Chakpikarong Block of chandel district accused Block Development Officer (BDO) P Sana Singh of misappropriating MGNREGS fund amounting to Rs 10.50 lakhs.

Measles camp

IMPHAL, Oct 7: A measles catch-up campaign, organised by District Health Society, Imphal East is currently underway in different parts of the district.

The campaign was kicked off on October 10 last and would continue till October 31.

With the opening of 606 session sites across the district, it targets to benefit 90553 children at the age group of 9 months to 10 years.

Custodial death probe

IMPHAL, Oct 7 : The State Government has appointed Sawombung SDM K Lakshmikanta Sharma to conduct Magisterial inquiry into the alleged custodial death of undertrial prisoner Sailasho (50) s/o late M Shisho of Phaibung Khunou of Senapati district  at Central Jail, Sajiwa.  The enquiry would find out the facts and circumstances leading to the incident, analyse the facts and circumstances, bring out findings based on the facts and circumstances and analysis thereof.

The enquiry would also recommend the Government to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future.

The report of the enquiry would be submitted within two months from the prescribed date of the Government order without further extension of time.
