IMPHAL, Oct 22 : A promoters’ agreement for the 1500 MW power capacity Tipaimukh Multipurpose Project was signed between the State Govt and the NHPC in presence of Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and Chief Minister O Ibobi. According to a source, the agreement was signed by Principal Secretary (Power) LP Golmei on behalf of the State Government whereas the NHPC was represented by its Managing Director.
Following the signing of the promoters’ agreement, me-morandums and articles would be prepared to take up the project as a joint venture of the State Govt, NHPC and the Sutlej Vidyoot Jal Nigam Limited, conveyed the source.
The State Governments of Manipur and Mizoram have already applied to the Ministry of Forest and Environment to give mandatory forest clearance for the project.
After getting the forest clearance, the NHPC would seek approval of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs before initiating construction work of the multipurpose project.
