JAC of govt employees begins cease work strike [ Hueiyen Lanpao]

Imphal, Oct 24: Amid economic blockades and bandhs which have already caused serious problem to the state Government and its subsequent impact to the people of Manipur due to price-hike and scarcity of essential commodities, all the state employees under the aegis of  Joint Administration Council of All Manipur Trade Union and All Manipur Government Employees’ Organization (JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO), including Manipur Secretariat Service Association have decided to launch an indefinite cease work strike from today, showing resentment over the state government’s inability to implement 6th pay recommendation.
The JAC said in a statement that the extreme step has been taken by it as the Congress-led Secular Progressive front (SPF) government has failed to implement 6th pay recommendation for more than a year and has been indulging in dallying tactics and deliberately waiting for code of conduct of the upcoming election to the10th Manipur Legislative Assembly.

It said the JAC and state employees know that the general public and the student community in the state will face hardship due to the agitation and. would also mean huge lose of income to the state but as the Government has not fulfilled its assurance till now, the JAC is compelled to take the decision to launch indefinite cease work strike to pressurize the government.

All the employees of other states are already enjoyed the 6th pay recommendation but it is unfortunate that SPF Government which has served two consecutive terms has kept the living standard of the state employees including pensioners and family pensioners in a dire state, the aggrieved JAC alleged.  The JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO are closely discussing intensification of the strike in the coming days for the  fulfillment of their genuine demand, said Priyobarta Singh, one of the members of the JAC on Monday.
