IMPHAL, Oct 26: The Srinagar to Imphal Jan Karvan march, which was flagged off on October 16 by social activist Medha Patkar at Srinagar, will reach Imphal at around 11 am tomorrow.

The 4,500 km long march taken part by a team of Save Sharmila Solidarity Campaign reached Guwahati today, said a statement issued by Amateur Athletic Association (AAA), Kongpal.

A reception ceremony was organised to welcome the rallyists representing different organisations at conference hall of Assam Sahitya Sabha.

After conducting a press conference, the team left Guwahati for Imphal at around 3 pm today, the statement added.

It further said that the rallyists would be given a warm welcome by the people of the State at North AOC.

Later, a peace rally which would pass through Minuthong, New Checkon, Porompat Crossing and Ayangpalli would be taken out to culminate at Kongpal, the birth place of Irom Sharmila, it added.

A press conference will be conducted after hosting a public meeting by Kongpal Amateur Athletic Association at Kongpal.

The rally team is scheduled to meet Sharmila on October 28.

If the State Government does not give permission to meet the anti-AFSPA campaigner, the rally team would hold a one-day hunger strike on Ningol Chakkouba day.
