Loktak Project glitters with development photo exhibition [Imphal Free Press]

Invitees going through the photos on display during the opening day of the Photo exhibition on the theme ‘Development Initiatives in North East at NHPC Community Hall, Loktak Project.

 

LOKTAK PROJECT, October 18: Continuing the campaign for creating awareness among the rural populace, a five-day long Photo Exhibition on the theme ‘Development Initiatives in North East’ kick-off at NHPC Community Hall, Loktak Project in Churachandpur District.

The exhibition, which would continue till October 22 is being organized by the Directorate of Advertising & Visual Publicity (DAVP), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, Imphal with the help of NHPC Authority.

Addressing the impressive gathering, which was attended by high ranking officials of NHPC & Government representatives, including village elders, social workers, teachers and large section of students, K Thansang, MCS, additional Deputy Commissioner, Churachandpur outlined various developmental schemes undertaken by the Government of India. Saying that the success of Government’s projects depends on active participation of the people, he calls for sincerity and dedication of the public in order to see the fruits of development. Commenting on the Photo Exhibition, the Senior MCS officer, who attended the program as chief guest maintains “I am impressed by the way the photos of different regions of North east are exhibited in the exhibition hall paving way for the emotional integration of the people and knowing and seeing the developmental works being displayed in the exhibition”.

“The exhibition truly depicts the over-all development taking place in the region. They help in generating awareness of the people and bind the people together. My best compliments for successful photo exhibition which has opened doors to the people of Manipur towards sustainable development”, says KL Solanki, general manager, Loktak Power Station, who made his presence felt as guest of honour.

Captivated by the collection of photos from the region, SK Chauhan, general manager and CEO of Loktak Down Stream & Tipaimukh projects says “The program conducted is very useful to create awareness among the masses regarding progress made by our country in different spheres of life. Such programme will also give boost to cultural heritage”.

“This photo exhibition on ‘Development Initiatives in North East’ shall increase awareness among the people. The people will come to know and have clear picture of the efforts being taken by the government of India towards development of this region”, said VK Karn, Chief Engineer, Loktak Power Station.

True to the objective of the exhibition, Jessi, a student says, “It gives me much knowledge and made me feel proud of living in north-eastern states”. For Hajibur Husasain, a four-grader of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Loktak Project, the exhibition is a source of knowledge and wisdom. ‘I will visit the exhibition hall everyday’ says the school kid while chatting to media persons.

In the function, Nongmaithem Nando, news editor, AIR/DDK, Imphal enlightened the gathering about various development schemes initiated by the government of India.

Highlighting the purpose of the exhibition, Gin Gangte, IIS, Field Exhibition Officer, DAVP, Imphal says that the main objective of organizing the photo exhibition is to create awareness and disseminate information about the pace of various developmental projects initiated by the government of India in the North-eastern region of India.

The program was enriched by presentation of soulful number by the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Loktak Project, much to thundering applause from the audience.

All that glitters may not be gold and neither does the photos were. Yet, the collection of about 130 photos from the north-east and more than 70 development-related photos of  NHPC, Loktak Project that are being displayed in the exhibition has certainly glittered the colony that is known for uninterrupted power supply in Manipur.
